ebEssentials understands that for most clients having a web site designed is a new venture. This page describes the services offered along with the features and benefits that each category has. The information below also answers many of the frequently asked questions a new client has. We believe it is important to help you to understand the components of having your web site created.

~ domain / web address ~
A domain name is the name (and address) of your web site. For example, my domain is “WebEssentials.com.” Your domain name should mirror your business name as close as possible to make it easy for people to remember. Each domain name can be used only once, so most common names are taken already. We will research your choices for an available domain name and assist you with suggestions. Currently, you can use up to 67 characters in a domain name. Only letters, numbers and hyphens are allowed. The cost for registering a new domain and yearly renewal is $10.

Note: We usually recommend to new clients to let us register their domain for them. There is specific information that needs to be entered and some of that cannot be easily changed after the registration. It is also important for you to know that your domain should be registered in YOUR name so that you legally own that domain. WebEssentials always registers a domain in the clients’‚ name (with WebEssentials as a technical contact to allow us to handle maintenance and troubleshooting).


~ web site content ~
Your pages should contain descriptive, concise text. We will work with your written introduction and product information to develop content for your site that highlights your unique attributes and offerings.

~ images and graphics ~
Retaining visual quality, we optimize your photos and graphics to provide the best balance of fast download speed and highest quality. Page backgrounds, navigation, text and buttons, and small touchups to the photos or graphics, supplied by you, are included in the web site package.

Hourly fees apply to logos or other graphics that need to be created from scratch.


~ navigation ~
It is imperative to make the site intuitive to navigate. You shouldn’t make people think too hard when they visit your site. If people don’t see how to get to what they need quickly they will leave. We carefully design navigational elements so that users can easily maneuver and immediately proceed to the information they are seeking. We design pages that are user friendly.


~ hosting ~
Hosting your web pages is the next step. Your web pages (the computer files that make up your web site) need to be located on a “web server” computer that is connected to the Internet through a fast, always-on, reliable connection.

~ web stats ~
WebEssentials hosting services include a detailed daily statistical analysis of the traffic to your web site. You are automatically provided with a reminder email each month to view the latest report summary via a link; www.yourdomain.com/webstats. These reports tell you about your site traffic, including key words used in search engines to find you. Knowing how many unique visitors have viewed your web site vs. how many hits you have received is important. We will analyze your web stats to better assess the content of your site to optimally reach your target audience.


~ search engines ~
We submit your site to the most popular search engines as a part of the web site package.

We pay close attention to selecting the most appropriate categories where users would expect to find your type of service or information. It can take from six weeks to a few months to appear in a search engine following submittal. To allow for the time it takes some search engines to index your site, we like to upload a temporary home page for you while the site is being built. This page contains all of your contact information, your logo, page title with your keywords, a quick description and your keywords in the metatag code of your site.

Resubmitting your site to search engines every two or three months or after major site revisions is critical. You may choose to resubmit your own site or you may decide to periodically hire us to resubmit your site.

Having your web site address listed on other web sites you are affiliated with will also help your search engine rankings.

~ keywords ~
Many sites are found through search engines. We pay attention to the details that search engines look for, including key words in your page title, appropriate text, meta tags and image alt tags.


~ contract and fee schedule ~
The cost for hiring a web site designer varies depending on the size of the site, the content, and what materials you are able to provide. We would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Please go to our Contact Us page to give us information about your business. We will give you a detailed estimate once we discuss the individual needs for your site.

The fee for a web site package is divided into two parts. The first payment is required when the contract is signed and the final payment is due upon completion. Your site will not be complete until I have your final approval.

When paid in full, you retain complete ownership of the site. Occasional small changes (i.e. new phone numbers or email addresses, change in your hours of business, adding a new link to your “favorite links” page, etc.) are included in your original fee. We will be happy to promptly update your pages with that information at no additional cost.

When your site content needs updating, we believe it is important that these updates are made promptly. Our services for additional pages requested beyond what is in your contract, site revisions, graphics we create, guest books, forms or surveys are billed at our standard hourly rate.

~ promoting your new web site ~
Now that you have your web site, advertise it on everything your customers will come in contact with. Add your www.yourname.com to your business cards, billing invoices, receipts, in the signature of every email you send out, on return address labels, vehicle and building signs, your office / store window, ALL of your advertising, etc. The possibilities are endless now that your business has international capabilities!
